The Snapper Shootout is a brand-new one-day, boat-based tournament with a simple format, a massive cash prize, and plenty of bragging rights up for grabs.

The heaviest snapper weighed takes home a massive $5,000 cash prize thanks to our sponsors, while 100% of entry fees go straight back into the prize pool for 2nd through 10th place.

NZSFC Youth Nationals

Looking for an exciting activity these school holidays? The NZSFC Youth Nationals 2026 are just around the corner! This nationwide tournament, designed for junior anglers, runs from April 4th to April 18th, 2026, coinciding with the April school holidays.

The tournament is a fantastic opportunity for kids under 18 to experience the thrill of fishing. With a structure similar to that of ‘The Nationals’, the event includes an all-tackle, measure-and-release format, and a points-based scoring system that encourages anglers to fish lighter line classes. Thanks to Daiwa NZ and Just Another Fisherman, there are some epic prizes up for grabs for the winning anglers!

Participation is easy—junior anglers can register at their nearest fishing club, and they don’t need to be a member. The tournament offers a wide variety of fishing sections catering to kids with handlines all the way up to those with access to boats. There’s even a photography section focusing on fun and the marine environment.
